ABOUT
MSSIC is a collaborative quality improvement initiative (CQI) that aims to improve spine surgery outcomes for patients in Michigan. MSSIC focuses on spine conditions such as stenosis, disk herniation and degenerative diseases, where surgery is done for pain relief and function restoration.

Focus areas include prevention of surgical complications, managing use of opioids for pain relief, and improvement patient-reported outcomes like pain, functional status, and return to work.  Future focus areas could include use of fusion vs. non-fusion procedures and addressing social/economic disparities in surgical outcomes.
